Written by Steve Spreng '12 on October 29, 2009.

On Saturday at Lorain Community College, the Eagle Cross Country team ran themselves out of Districts and into the Tiffin Regional on Saturday, October 31. The Eagles advanced to the next round with a fourth place finish out of 16 teams, earning the last Regional qualifying spot. In addition, junior Matt Lockyer led the team with an eighth place overall finish with a time of 17:22.91.

In the last two meets heading into Districts, the St. Edward Cross Country Team finished strong. At the SIM Earich Invitational, a combined meet of Division I and Division II runners, the team placed second out of sixteen teams. The top runners at this meet were senior Ian McNeeley, Matt Lockyer, who finished fifth overall, and sophomores Kevin Carroll and Jack Kelly.

A week earlier at the Medina Festival, the Varsity B team placed 7th out of 18 teams, a formidable accomplishment for the team. The top four finishers in that race were junior Keven Lenahan and junior Eddie Volk and sophomores John Seelie and Luke Kollin.
