The varsity soccer team’s playoff run came to a screeching halt on October 31 with a 5-1 loss against St. Ignatius in the district final on the Wildcats’ home field.
Although the game began as a tight battle, the Eagles trailed at halftime, 4-0. Senior captain Kevin Spackman scored an early goal to begin the second half, but it was too late for the Eagles. The team ended its season as district runner-up with a final record of 8-7-4.
The soccer team had earned their spot in the district final by defeating Shaker Heights at home. Two goals by senior captain Pat Murray and one apiece from seniors Matt Danese and Bobby Rohweder resulted in the 4-0 win over the Red Raiders. Junior goalkeeper Toby Fröhlich recorded the shutout.
