Keglers Bowling for Recognition

Written by Andrew Boros '10 on November 20, 2009.

Coaches Greg Arcangelini and Fred Marquardt are preparing the St. Edward bowling team for its second year in Division I OHSAA play. The team is looking to improve last year’s 3-9 season record.

Team captain Jonny Harrison ’11 leads the team, which currently has 12 to 14 members, most of whom are underclassmen. The team meets every Tuesday

and Thursday and has their matches every Saturday at 9:00 AM at either Buckeye Lanes or Freeway Lanes.

Harrison, when asked about how well he thinks the bowling team will do this year, commented, “I think we will do well. I believe we have potential to go far this year. Bowling is based on our own styles and the techniques we pick up as we play the game. The coaches can only do so much because they are our mentors.”

In addition, Harrison noted the lack of fan support for the bowling team and believed that it should be considered a “real” sport at the school. He added, “Bowling is not well known at our school and I would like to make it known. We need support from the other students. We have students support sports like football and basketball. As fellow Eagles we should support all of our sports teams, [and] not just when we make it to states, but every game.”
