Written by Keven Lenahand '11 on September 20, 2009.

The St. Edward Cross Country team made two formidable accomplishments at their first two meets of the year. The team kicked off its season at Glen Oak and placed sixth overall. Notable times were Matt Lockyer with a 17:43 5K time and Kevin Carroll with a 17:43 time. The following Saturday the team headed west to LCCC for the Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational. The team earned an impressive 4th place finish out of 20 teams with Lockyer leading the team once again with a 16:59 5K time.

The 2009 team has two vital freshmen running on the Varsity roster, Mike Navratil and Matt Koval. With a younger team this year, this season will prove to be very competitive. The Eagles looked ahead to their meet on September 19 at the VASJ Classic at Forrest Hills Park. The results of which were not available in time for this issue.
